He was born on the 22^nd of March 1942 in Ardabil, Aliabad neighborhood. He is the third medalist of Iranian wrestling in the world championships, after Alireza Ghelichkhani and Iraj Khorshidfar. He won a silver medal at the Munich1972 Olympic Games and two world silver and bronze medals in the 48 and 52 kg weight categories at the Mar del Plata 1969 and Tehran1973 World Championships, respectively.
