Dahlan Jamaan Alhamad, President of Asian Athletics Association was hosted for a meeting with Mr. Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa, the Iranian NOC President.
Iran NOC; Tehran: At the
beginning of this meeting, while welcoming the President of the Asian Athletics
and the accompanying delegation who have traveled to Iran to take part in the
Asian Indoor Athletics Championship, Mr. Khosravi Vafa stated: “I hope we will be
a liable host for these competitions as in the past leaving good memories for
the Asian teams from Iran. I appreciate the National Federation for organizing
the event it is hoped that the Asian Athletics extend more support”. Highlighting
his recent trip to Qatar and the infrastructure and also the capabilities of
this country, the NOC President further held: “Undoubtedly, what remains as the
purpose of hosting sports competitions apart from the result and winning a
medal, at the end is to increase peace and brotherhood, and for this reason, we
hope that while increasing sports cooperation in athletics, you will provide
good support to Iranian athletics”.
The Asian Athletics President
added: “Iran has hosted various athletics events in the past, and I believe
that Iranian sport is one of the Asian and world powers in many disciplines,
and it has a good plan for the growth and development of athletics. Your
support for this Olympic discipline encourages us to host indoor competitions
because athletics in Iran has a long history and is considered one of the
pioneers of this discipline in Asia, and definitely considering your potential
and talents, the support program you will be positively supported on behalf of
Asian athletics. In order to decentralize and in line with the growth and
development of athletics, we intend to carry out a plan in different countries
with the participation of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sports
for grassroots levels and to bring them into athletics and support them.
Therefore, we are ready to implement this project in Iran, which we believe is
a source of great talents, by sending an instructor and teaching the necessary
points, which will make your athletics grow even more”.
