Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the meeting with athletes and
that such behaviors have a value equal to the sport itself, it shows the face
of the Iranian nation to the world as an "indicator with logic and
self-confidence" which deserves real appreciation. The Supreme Leader also
thanked the champions for making the nation happy and held: “It is very
important for me that you make the nation happy and proud with your colorful
medals”. Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasizing that a strong Iran must have strong
sports, pointed to his recommendations in public or private meetings with
sports officials and added that the issues and points raised by the sports
Minister in this meeting should be seriously followed up one by one. The Supreme
Leader addressed the athletes with his recommendations and emphasized that
popularity and fame bring a heavy responsibility and stated: “The speech,
behavior and lifestyle of sports figures are role models for many young people
and can have a constructive influence on them; although, the opposite is also
possible, so athletes must be very careful in this regard”. In another advice, He
called the athletes to be grateful for the God-given blessing of physical
ability and strength of determination and will and pointed out: “gratitude for
these divine blessings will increase them”.
