The ceremony for honoring the medalists of the Hangzhou Asian Games was held in Milad Tower conference hall in line with the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Tehran Municipality and the National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC; Tehran: According to
the MoU between the National Olympic Committee and the Tehran Municipality,
which was concluded last year, the ceremony for honoring the medalists of the
Hangzhou Asian Games was held by the Tehran Municipality and was attended by Dr.
Seyed Manaf Hashemi, the NOC Secretary-General, Kiyomars Hashemi, the Minister
of Sports and Youth, Alireza Zakani, Tehran Mayor, and a group of deputies and
members of the Tehran City Council, presidents of the federation, managers and
sports officials in the conference hall of Milad Tower.
In this ceremony, Dr. Alireza
Zakani, the Tehran Mayor, held: “Today's presence is a tribute to your
diligence, greatness and will. A person who can appear in various competitions
and be proud owns an introduction and serious efforts as a background. This
appreciation ceremony will provide role models and direction for our youth”.
Then, Dr. Seyed Manaf Hashemi, Secretary-General
of the National Olympic Committee and Chef de Mission of the Iranian delegation
to Hangzhou, expressed his gratitude to Tehran Municipality for holding this
ceremony: "We saw at the opening and closing of the Asian Games that the
real hosts of the games were the mayors, and the main burden was on the
shoulders of the city administration. In the closing ceremony, the Hangzhou
Asian Games flag was presented by Hangzhou Mayor to Nagoya Mayor, and this
shows the important position of municipalities in hosting important sports
games and competitions”. The Secretary General of the National Olympic
Committee pointed out that winning a medal in the Asian Games is the result of
four years of efforts by the athletes, the National Olympic Committee and the
Ministry of Sports, and highlighted: “We hope to advance in the Paris 2024 Olympics
with the necessary support, and we hope that such a valuable ceremony organized
by Tehran Municipality which left a good memory for our honorees; be continued
by other municipalities, as well”.
Medalists were given prizes by
the end of the ceremony.
