World Aquatics HQ to Move to Budapest
World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam was in Budapest to meet with Hungarian government officials to discuss new potential for the development of aquatic sports and the location of the World Aquatics headquarters.

Iran NOC; Tehran: A memorandum of understanding was signed committing to further cooperation around the potential relocation to Budapest. Currently headquartered in Lausanne and operating several development centres around the world, World Aquatics is already very familiar with Budapest after the staging of two successful World Aquatics Championships there in recent years: 2017 and 2022. The World Aquatics Championships are also scheduled to return there in 2027, as well as next year’s World Aquatics Swimming Championships (25m). Consistent with Hungary’s proud history of and commitment to aquatic sports, Budapest currently features dedicated aquatics training and competition facilities that include the Duna Arena and the Alfréd Hajós National Swimming Stadium. “Hungary has repeatedly proven itself to be a wonderful host for our sport and for our athletes. World Aquatics remains sincerely grateful for this,” said World Aquatics President Husain Al-Musallam. “I am excited to work with our friends in Budapest to see what further possibilities there may be here for World Aquatics.”
