The National Iranian Sabre Fencing team managed to bag the 2nd Runner-up title in the Fencing World Cup.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The final of
the Saber Fencing World Cup in Algeria was held between the teams of Iran and
South Korea, and in the end, Iranian team reached the runner-up title. The
Iranian team lost by 34-45 against South Korea, its strong Asian rival, and won
the silver medal of the World Cup.
Iran's Sabre team with the
composition of Ali Pakdaman, Mohammad Rahbari, Mohammad Fatuhi, Farzad Baher
and Nima Zahedi participated in the World Cup in Algeria. This team is led by
Amin Ghorbani. Before this, Iran had defeated the teams of Canada, Hungary and
Germany and reached the finals. The Iranian team had already reached the team
finals of the World Cup in Senegal in 2016 and won the gold medal. Now, six
years later, they managed to reach the final again, but winning silver. The
Algerian World Cup is the first competition of the new Fencing season where Iran
had a strong start and was able to win a silver medal in its first competition.
