Iranian Women’s Volleyball Break a 56-Year Spell
The Iranian Women's National Volleyball team managed to defeat the opponent in the semi-final match of the Islamic Solidarity Games, so that the team's 56-year-old spell to win a medal in the official tournament was broken by advancing to the final.

Iran NOC; Tehran: The semi-final stage of women's and men's volleyball competitions of the Islamic Solidarity Games will be followed with four matches. The Iranian Women's National Volleyball team faced the Republic of Azerbaijan in its game at this stage and defeated this team by 3-1 and was declared as the first finalist of these games. The last medal of The Iranian Women's National Volleyball team in the official competition in 1966 Asian Games was bronze, so that the team's 56-year-old spell to win a medal was broken by advancing to the final match of the Solidarity Games. On the other hand, with the promotion of the Iranian women's national volleyball team to the final match, the silver medal of this team was confirmed, which is considered the first runner-up title in the history of Iranian Women's Volleyball.
