For the first time, the Iranian Women's National Taekwondo team succeeded in standing on the first podium of the Asian Championships in the world taekwondo cradle.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The 25th
edition of the Asian Taekwondo Championships was hosted by Korea for 4 days and
was attended by 299 taekwondo fighters from 34 countries. The Iranian Women's
National Taekwondo team won 3 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze and 500 points to win
the Championship title among all the participating teams. China finished
runners-up with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals and 379 points, while Korea
bagged 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals with 347 points and Jordan came in
fourth with 1 gold and 127 points.
In the men's section, Uzbekistan
won 4 gold medals and 501 points. Korea finished second with 3 gold and 2
bronze medals, 421 points. Jordan with 4 silver and 1 bronze and 239 points
were third and China with one gold, one silver and one bronze with a total of
207 points; the Iranian national team with three silver, one bronze and 187
points ceased to fifth.
In total, the final ranking of
men and women of our national team won the third title with 3 gold, 5 silver
and 2 bronze medals. South Korea won 5 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals,
followed by Uzbekistan with 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. The Chinese
teams came fourth with 3 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze and Jordan stood fifth with 1
gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze.
