Dr. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, NOC President held a meeting with directors and chiefs of Public Relations Departments of National Federations.
Iran NOC; Tehran: Dr. Salehi Amiri, referring to the large
number of sporting events in the new year (6 very important sporting events in
a year), considered the current time to be very sensitive to achieve the
desired result, adding that according to experts, the current situation in terms
of the number of sporting events in a year It is unique, so we have to move
faster, especially in the Olympic federations.
The President of the National
Olympic Committee, referring to the favorable situation of the national teams
to participate in the Olympic Games, based on the received reports, added: “We
need to increase motivation among the sports community, athletes and the sports
environment, and this is definitely possible through public relations. In this
regard, in addition to paying 100% of their budgets before the end of the year we
have provided financial support to many federations. We have also considered
extra-budgetary financial support during the periodic visits to the federation.”
Emphasizing the sensitive and
important role of public relations in sports organizations, Dr. Salehi noted: “we
are moving in the direction of improving the position of public relations in
the federations, both in terms of expertise and structure, etc. In the first
step, after reviewing your proposals in the previous meeting, we seek to
implement these proposals by setting up a public relations commission along
with other commissions active in the National Olympic Committee”.
He continued: “This commission,
like other commissions, will consist of 12 members. The legal responsibility
will be with the Director General of Public Relations of the Ministry of Sports
and the Director of Public Relations of the National Olympic Committee, and
other members will be democratically elected based on votes”.
NOC President emphasized on
holding the first public relations conference of sports organizations to
introduce this commission and its goals as a positive step to improve the
position and noted that a separate budget for public relations until the end of
next year which will be considered to be dedicated exclusively to the public
relations equipment and programs of the federations.
At the end, the President of the
National Olympic Committee announced the preparation of a one-hour documentary
from all sports federations and held: “We seek to prepare documentaries of
history, champions, prominent people, programs, etc., based on the framework
that will be announced to you in each federation”.
