A top-ranking Qatari sports delegation from Qatar Olympic Committee met with officials of the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
Iran NOC; Tehran, the meeting was
held by the presence of Dr. Kaykavous Saeidi, Secretary General of the National
Olympic Committee, Dr. Sajjadi, Iranian Chef de Mission and Senior Advisor to
NOC President, Dr. Gharakhanlou, Director of the National Olympic Academy and
some managers and presidents of sports federations.
At the meeting, Qatari sports
officials headed by HE. Jassim Rashid Albuenain, QOC Secretary-General first
presented a clip of their various hosting records from the 2006 Asian Games in
Doha to other continental and world competitions held so far, and a report on
their preparation, including transportation, hoteling and various sports venues
in bidding to Host the 2030 Asian Games.
Then, Dr. Kaykavos Saeidi, NOC Secretary
General, while welcoming the Qatari guests, said: “Iran and Qatar have always
had good cooperation in economic, cultural, social and sports areas, and Qatar
has always had appropriate conditions for hosting different events. It provides
sports, and as you indicated in this presentation, a good plan to host various
sports competitions, such as the Doha Asian Games and the World Beach Games”.
Dr. Mehdi Ali Nejad, Deputy Minister
of Iran Ministry of Sports & Youth also welcomed the Qatari delegation and their
Ambassador to Iran and stated: “The two friend and neighboring countries of
Iran and Qatar have always had good interactions in various fields, and this has
been more evident in sports. Personally, I have witnessed well-hosted events by
Qatar, and I am in friendly relations with officials of the Qatar Olympic
Committee (QOC) and its sports. Doubtlessly, Qatar, as in the past, had a very
good capacity to host various sports competitions”.
Then, HE. Jassim Rashid Albuenain,
QOC Secretary General expressed his happiness over his visit to Iran and held: “Iran's
sport has always been one of the best in Asia and as you highlighted, the two
countries have always had good interactions in various fields, especially in
sports. The past will continue”.
At the end of the meeting, the
Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Qatar awarded the
booklet of the 2030 Olympic Games to his counterpart, Dr. Kaykavos Saeidi,
Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee.
The top-ranking Qatari delegation
was composed of, HE. Dehlan Jaman Al-Hamad, Member of Qatar Advisory Council
and President of the Asian Athletics Association, Mohammad Yousef Al-Mana,
President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad
Al-Hijri, Ambassador of Qatar to Tehran, Khalil Ibrahim Al-Jaber, President of
the Swimming Federation and Director of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sports Affairs,
Abdullah Youssef Al-Mulla, President of Al-Ahly Club and Director of Qatar
Olympic Museum along with others who were members of Doha 2030 Asian Games Bid
Committee.
