The seventy-second meeting of the NOC Executive Board was held with the presence of Dr. Salehi Amiri, Presdient of the National Olympic Committee.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The 72nd meeting of the
Executive Board of the National Olympic Committee was chaired by Dr. Salehi
Amiri and attended by members.
Dr. Kaykavos Saeidi, Secretary General of the National
Olympic Committee highlighted the approvals of the meeting: In the first part,
Mr. Tishegaran, President of the Deaf Federation, attended the meeting to
discuss the problems of deaf athletes and the federation's plans for the
Deaflympics. Regarding the issues raised, with the approval of the presented
programs, it was decided to provide the necessary support to the deaf athletes
and the programs proposed by the NF.
The NOC Secretary General continued: "considering the
achievements and performance of our champions in the Deaflympics and other international
events, it was decided to consider a place in the National Museum of Sports to showcase
these achievements and honors." The museum will also have a section
dedicated to the sports honors of the deaf and the memorials of the athletes.
Dr. Saeidi further added: “In the next part, Mr. Sohrabian,
President of the Cano Federation, presented a report on the programs of this
federation with the focus on holding the second International Solidarity
Project on the occasion of World Sailing Day, which will be hosted at Azadi
Stadium in late May. The EB agreed with the generals of this plan and it was
decided to present the details in the form of a project so that the National
Olympic Committee can use the financial support of Olympic solidarity by
presenting this plan to the OS”.
Highlighting the supportive approach of the National Olympic
Committee to the federations that have won quotas or have a chance to win
quotas for the Olympic Games, the NOC Secretary-General also reported: “In this
meeting, the requests of wrestling and basketball federations were reviewed.
The report was presented and the positive comments of the technical committee
of the games and the Iranian Chef de Mission, Dr. Nasrollah Sajjadi were obtained.
It was also scheduled to provide the necessary support for the strong presence
of these disciplines in the upcoming competitions and to provide financial
assistance outside the approved quota.
Dr. Saeidi, the spokesman of the Executive Board, further concluded:
“Supporting the Islamic Federation of Women's Sports was another approval of
the Executive Board. In this regard, it was decided based on the request
submitted by this federation and the opinion of the Executive Board to develop
women's sports activities”.
