The National Open Golf Tournament was held on 29th of October at Enghelab Golf Course with over 60 individual golfers from 12 cities.
Iran NOC; Tehran: following
the health guidelines and protocols, the event was carried out in individual stroke-play
format for 72 holes. 2 groups of handicapper 0 to 9 and 10 to 20 formed the
flights. It is highlighted that the
Tournament was broadcast live for the first time in the history of the federation
which received a positive feedback. Mehrdad Jamshidi, the NF’s
Secretary-General was the commentator.
Dr. Hamid Azizi, President
of Iran Golf Federation held: “golf and the affiliated disciplines have an
inherent social distancing and are held outdoors, along with anti-corona regulations
with maximum standards. We announced the competitions two months ago, and the
enthusiasts entered this with high preparation. Women will also come to the
same place for the national contest on November 6th.
Regarding the live
broadcast of the National Open Golf Tournament, Dr. Azizi highlighted: “Today,
the first time golf was broadcast live by the Sports Channel. The technical
coverage is difficult due to the fact that the golf course is 40 hectares and
several kilometers of cabling were provided to give room to the broadcast. This
event is a turning point for golf to enter the national media and the arrival
of supporters, audiences and enthusiasts”.
Dr. Kaykavos Saeidi,
NOC Secretary-General paid a visit to the event and participated in the Closing
Ceremony.
