The 2nd edition of Minigolf Media Cup was held at Enghelab Sports Complex gathering the media members of over 50 bodies together.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The 2nd
edition of the Minigolf Media Cup hosted members of the media, officials of the
Golf Federation, Dr. Mahin Farhadizad, Deputy Minister of Women's Affairs of
the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Khosravi, Director General of Joint Affairs
of the Federations, General Ghasemi, Advisor to the Minister of Sports and Amir Sedighi, President Wushu Federation at
the Enghelab Sports Complex Club Minigolf site.
At the opening ceremony of the
cup Mehrdad Jamshidi, Golf Federation’s Secretary-General held: “for the second
year in a row and in the last two years, this competition has been held in the
form of the Media Cup and we hope to create a good and memorable day. Mini golf
is a family sport and everyone can play it together”.
“The Minigolf Association has
been operating under the auspices of the federation for 12 years and has had a
good performance, attracted many enthusiasts and 55 sites are actively operating
in the country. The sport is growing rapidly and its enthusiasts and statistical
community have surpassed golf” Jamshidi pointed out.
By the end of the competition and
during the closing ceremony, Dr. Hamid Azizi, President of the Golf Federation
stated: “Golf Federation has acknowledged the role of the media as a pillar of
development and has paid attention to it. Last year, the Media Cup was held
with the presence of 100 participants, and this year due to the Covid19
pandemic, the participants reduced to 70”.
He also added: "The media
are the strong and powerful instructors of the society, and this makes us
introduce the media's attention to this field and through their capacities,
introduce our disciplines to the society as inexpensive, easy-to-reach and
family-oriented”.
The President of the Golf
Federation emphasized: “It is time for other disciplines to be activated along
with other Olympic counterparts, and golf has the capacity to enter into this
topic”
Dr. Mahin Farhadizad, Deputy
Minister of Women's Affairs of the Ministry of Sports and Youth highlighted: “I
thank the Golf Federation and in the evaluation of the Ministry of Sports and
Youth, the federation has worked hard to develop sports and the work initiated
for building standard courses nation-wide”.
By the end of the closing
ceremony, best male and female scorers were awarded medals, certificates and
gifts.
