Iran National Olympic Committee appreciated and rewarded the female athletics record breakers.
Iran NOC; Tehran: in this
ceremony, which was held with the presence of Dr. Salehi Amiri, President of
the National Olympic Committee, Mahsa Mirza Tabibi in high jump, Reyhaneh
Mobini in long jump, Reyhaneh Arani and Zahra Arab Rostami in hammer throw were
rewarded. The ceremony hosted top ranking sports officials from Ministry of
Sports and Youth and the Athletics NF.
Welcoming the attendees, Dr. Seyed
Reza Salehi Amiri, President of the National Olympic Committee, said: “We
should appreciate the efforts of all those who work for Iranian sports and I
would like coaches and athletes to raise their problems first, because the
country's sports system, including the Ministry of Sports, the National Olympic
Committee, NFs and NOC Commissions, have a duty, and that is to support the
champions”.
He also added: “Athletics is the
jewel of Iran's championship sport, one of the most medal-winning disciplines
and one of our main hopes in winning the Asian, World and Olympic podiums. This
shows that if investment is made in this discipline, it can change Iran's
position”.
Dr. Salehi Amiri emphasized: “We
must believe that women are able to conquer the places of honor. Therefore, the
strategic document for the development of women's sports in Iran is being
drafted compiled”.
NOC President continued: “The
goal is that we should invest in women's sports and instead of slogans, we
should highlight the presence of women. If our girls and women are statistically
equal to men in various events, the world will realize that there are no
barriers for women to enter sports. Women are the credibility of Iran. Our goal
is to have a quantitative and qualitative balance of girls and boys in the next
2 events of the Olympics and the next 3 events of the Asian Games. Planning,
investing and continuing education can lead us to our goals. We pay special
attention to athletics. We have allocated 75% of the federation's budget in
difficult circumstances and we will allocate special grants to this federation
in the second half of the year”.
“I congratulate the coaches for these
record-breakers in the first place, because no one is happier than a coach for
the record-breaking of his athletes. Changes in federations should not change
the work process of coaches, because positive investment was made in the
Athletics Federation. At Supreme Sports
Headquarters, our firm policy is to fully support medal-winning disciplines,
especially athletics, because we can change our position at major events. I
want the media, especially the national media, which have always supported the
sports to pay more attention to women's sports and such record-breaking events.
We should celebrate these events so that a nation feels proud and happy. This
is the way to produce national vitality” highlighted the NOC President.
At the end of the ceremony, the
National Olympic Committee rewarded the coaches and athletes.
