Sport & Peace Commission Message for “Intl. Day of Sport for Peace and Development”
The NOC Sport & Peace Commission sent a message on the occasion of “International Day of Sport for Peace and Development”.

Iran NOC; Tehran: NOC Sport and Peace Commission reiterated in their message:

April 6 has been designated by the United Nations as International Day of Sport for Peace and Development, and it is an opportunity to honor important values which reflect the true spirit of sport.

In commemoration of the day, the International Olympic Committee intends to draw the world's attention to "sports in the service of development and peace." In fact, this new event is an opportunity to celebrate and promote sports as a new and effective tool for positive change for the society and individuals around the world. It reminds all of peace and health.

Unfortunately, this year, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, no ceremony was held and we had to stay at home to prevent the virus spread. This is where the role of sports as the most important tool for maintaining good health comes to the aid of humanity.

In the days when wealth and power could not save lives, sport has been the most powerful vehicle for physical health and strengthening the spirit of stability among the people.

In this regard, the national heroes, as the flag bearers of pride and sports honor of each country, were able to be pioneers of peace, friendship and health in different societies with their financial and spiritual aid.

In conclusion, it is hoped that this challenge, with the least damages, is able to create the ground for progress, solidarity and closeness of nations together.
