The Basketball World Cup trophy made its next stop in Tehran on July 11th.
According to the report released
by NOC Public Relations Department, Trophy Tour, arranged by FIBA, is the
journey that the Basketball World Cup trophy must make while taking photos of
the TROPHY in different landmarks of the countries in the presence of their
sports officials.
It is important to highlight that
the tour’s second location was National Sport, Olympic & Paralympic Museum
where the trophy was symbolically showcased and unveiled for the media.
“basketball is well developing in
Iran and the NF has spared no effort for such promotion and development. The
Trophy Tour is a brilliant measure which emphasizes on the importance and value
of basketball to its family around the world” said the NOC Acting Secretary-General,
Dr. Kaykavos Saeidi after video & photo shoots at museum.
Made of 7.5 kg pure gold and 14
cm taller than other sports trophies, this cup promotes FIBA motto, Ball in
Schools, assuming that schools are responsible for accomplishing basketball
objectives and introducing future talents.
The Trophy Tour in Islamic
Republic of Iran was enthusiastically welcomed by basketball fans and families
and departed to Jordan for the next stop.
All 32 participating countries in
Basketball World Cup has hosted the Trophy and Iran was number 19 in their
list.
