Dr. Salehi Amiri, President of Iran National Olympic Committee met with Turkish Ambassador at NOC headquarters.
Based on the report released by NOC Public Relations Department,
Dr. Salehi Amiri and Mr. Derya Ors, the Turkish Ambassador to Tehran had a
friendly meeting and talked sports issues over in order for further future
communications and interactions.
The NOC President highlighted the long-standing cultural, lingual
and religious commonalities between Iran and Turkey and stated: “having a
cultural figure as the Turkish Ambassador is a merit to our country and our
mutual relationship since both countries are sharing many issues. At the time
of my management as the Minister of Culture, I did my best to expand our ties
as well.”
President Salehi Amiri furthered his speeches to the role of sport
on expansion of a closer cooperation between two countries which was agreed on
by the Turkish Ambassador who remarked: “I believe that sport and physical
education are the topics understood by everyone regardless of all political and
religious orientations. We have great historic roots in both countries and we
are able to maintain our existing any collaborations”.
Dr. Salei Amiri also pointed out that Iran NOC has been following a
plan for commencing and approving the ECO Sports Festival in Kish Island and that
having a neighbor country like Turkey on the cooperation side is important and
valuable. President made few remarks on the MOU between Iran and Turkey and
also called for implementations of the plans, policies and decisions.
Mr. Derya Ors, the Turkish Ambassador labelled the MOU promising
and committed himself to pursue the mutual cooperation as “cultural &
public diplomacy” are the two factors which play a more outstanding role than
political ties and relations.
