The First International Congress on Sports Law started with the presence of women sports lawyers in Tehran on Wednesday.

The two-day International Congress on Sports Law was held upon the initiative taken by National Olympic Committee of Iran and cooperation of Women in Sports Law (WISLAW).

WISLAW is an association registered in Switzerland in 2016. WISLAW members are referees and legal advisors of the International Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

A number of workshops was held with sports subjects, among which are human rights and sports, media law and sports and countering doping.

The sole Iranian woman who is a member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Parand Azizi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday that presence of members of the CAS and Women in Sports Law (WISLAW) in Tehran would be a turning point in Iran’s sports history.

The presence of top sports women in Tehran also helps develop sports law in the country, Azizi said.
