The 1st Sport and Environment Festival was held in the National Olympic and Paralympic
Academy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on 17th October 2018 in the presence of 720 guests.
The 1st Sport and Environment Festival was held in the National Olympic and Paralympic
Academy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on 17th October 2018 in the presence of 720 guests.
This program was organized in 3 following parts:
1) The Festival was opened by a clip introducing the NOC Sports & Environment Commission
and followed by lectures on sport and the relevant environmental concerns delivered by its Chair
Dr. Mehrafza Manoochehri, NOC President, Dr. Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, and Dr. Issa Kalantari,
Director General of Tehran Environment Organization. Afterwards, 14 selected legal and natural
persons in the realm of sports and environment including NFs and NGOs were also introduced to
the audience in recognition of their exemplary efforts in this area.
2) The second part of this program was devoted to promotional events as to safeguarding the
environment with participation of 300 children aged 8-12 in an outdoor area next to a track & field
stadium according to the following scene:
-Freeing the treated hunting birds
- Saplings planted by the NOC Secretary General, and sports champions with participation of
children standing at four corners of track & field stadium
-Organizing friendly matches in cooperation with volleyball, tennis, squash, fencing, basketball,
table tennis and badminton national federations in the presence of relevant coaches and athletes as
to introducing the sports concerned together with creating leisure activities and joy
-Paying a visit to pavilions installed by the active environmental NGOs
-Setting up tents of nomadic tribes so as to familiarize the public with their rites, rituals and culture
-Organizing specialized workshops with 400 participants in the presence of elite experts under
following 9 topics: Olympic values, food pollutants, challenges of providing the athletes with real
organic food, principles of the swimming pools’ hygiene, environmental considerations, air
hygiene in sports venues, risk evaluations in sports complexes, methods and techniques to use the
opportunity of sports events and figures to preserve the environment. It is to be mentioned that
participation certificates were awarded to all the participants.
It is worth mentioning that the following bodies collaborated with our NOC for the organization
of this festival:
The Organization for Preservation of Environment, Ministry of Health, Tehran Municipality
Environment Centre, Ministry of Education
