In the last day of 2018 Jakarta Asian Games on Saturday, Iran’s national volleyball team beat South Korea in the finals and won the 20th gold medal for Iran.

Also in basketball, Iran stood in the second place and won a silver medal.

Iranian Table-Tennis practitioner Noshad Alamian won a bronze to put an end to Iran’s five decades of no medal.

In water polo, Iran snatched a bronze medal, which was its first bronze medal after 44 years.

Iran finished the tournament with 20 gold, 20 silver, and 22 bronze medals and stood in the 6th place in medals table.

The performance of the Iranian outfit was affected by some events.

Iranian representative’s Kurash match against Uzbek’s was among the controversial contests of the Asian Games where the referee made obvious mistakes.

Also, the first appearance of Indonesia’s indigenous sport Pencak Silat brought them eight gold medals to take Iran’s place in the medals table in the last days of the event.

The Iranian outfit at the 2018 Asian Games comprises 280 sportsmen and 98 sportswomen who competed in 42 sports fields.

The 2018 Asian Games kicked off on August 18 and wrapped up on September 2 in the Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang.

Over 11,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries attended the competition.

The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the 18th Asian Games and also known as Jakarta Palembang 2018, is a pan-Asian multi-sport event held in Indonesia.
