The President of FIFA Gianni Infantino officially invited President Hassan Rouhani to the opening of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia.
FIFA invites Iran president to World Cup
On a visit to Iran a few months ago, Infantino had wanted President Rouhani to be a guest of FIFA at the opening ceremony.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will kick off on June 14 with the match between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Iran, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco are in Group B of the competitions.
Iran, in its first game, plays with Morocco on June 15.
Iran is participating in the competitions for the 5th time.
