Iranian karate athletes ranked first at international So-Kyokushin field championships held in the country's Southern city of Ahwaz.
The So-Kyokushin championships was held with the attendance of 10 foreign and 2 Iranian teams in Ahwaz on February 28-March 2.
Iran, Pakistan, the UAE, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe, Brazil Japan, Kuwait Kurdistan, and Iraq participated in the event.
In women section, Afghanistan and Suleymaniyah teams ranked second and third, and in male category Afghanistan and Iran stood in the second and third places.
Kyokushin is a style of stand-up, full contact karate, founded in 1964 by Korean-Japanese Masutatsu Oyama.
'Kyokushin' is Japanese for 'the ultimate truth.' It is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training.
Its full contact style had international appeal (practitioners have over the last 40+ years numbered more than 12 million).
