Iranian freestyler Hassan Yazdani has been listed among three wrestlers who showed the most outstanding performances of 2017.
The most outstanding performances of 2017 came from Turkish Yasemin Adar, Helen Maroulis from the USA and Hassan Yazdani Charati of Iran, unitedworldwrestling.org reported.
According to the site, Yazdani kicked off the 2017 World Championships with three straight technical superiority victories, outscoring those opponents 32-2 in the 85kg weight category.
In the semifinals Yazdani defeated Russian Vladislav Valiev 4-0 to make his first world finals appearance since 2015 when he took home a silver medal.
In the gold medal match, the Iranian superstar shut out Boris Makoev from Slovakia 10-0 to win his first world championship.
